Hi

My name is Madeleine Kelly and most people call me Maddy. I do most of my fishing in Ireland especially on the big western lakes. Lough Mask is my favourite.

I joined Troutandfly in autumn 07 having met Linda at a competition.

I’ve qualified for the Irish Ladies team 15 times and have been Captain on 3 occasions. I’ve been top Irish rod at the Ladies International 4 times and was overall Top International Rod in 2005.

Fly-fishing has been a real passion with me since I started 20 years ago. I have met loads of people and made wonderful wonderful friends.

Me on Lough Currane in Co Kerry with a 6lbs salmon (and wee tara who used to love giving the trout a kiss). I was fishing for sea trout at the time and had literally just missed a wee half pound trout - I cast back over the same spot and hooked this - for a few moments I though it was the wee half pounder!!!!!

I’ve done a bit of flytying and plan to do more (so watch out for my killer pattern soon lol). I also like to introduce women and young people into flyfishing and have organised quite a few courses over the last 10 years.

I'm looking forward to seeing this site grow to be what the previous site was. Lots of fishing reports from venues all over the British Isles and indeed the world, loads of advice, great fly patterns and ‘steps by steps’ and best of all a lot of great chat that has led to a great many friendships.

I hope you enjoy the site and help to make it grow. The site outings are great craic though it can take a few days to recover from them!!!!! Hope to see you at one of them.

Lough Erne March 2008 - a very windy day

Maddy

Good intro, well done. I remember when I joined a few of the members said not another Scot. Now the site is full of Irish.

Take care,
